Care Assistant Job Role otherwise known as care home jobs provide care to older patients, originally under the supervision and guidance of a care home manager. Other duties include assisting the nursing staff in running and operating a care home.

Care jobs require an individual's genuine interest and ability to communicate effectively at all levels in order to work in a caring environment. A caregiver expects to be a team player and is always ready to participate in vocational training programs.

Those planning to adopt this profession must undergo satisfactory police investigations to ensure that no criminal charges or crimes have occurred. It is essential to have basic knowledge and understanding of the 'Health and Safety at Work Act' and to control infection.

Care home jobs include acting as a lead worker for all patients in the home. Feeling comfortable and welcoming to patients is an important part of a carer's job. It is very important to help patients settle in and adapt to the new environment. A carer is expected to help bathe, wash clothes, dress on prescribed medication given by the physician.

Each patient is expected to be involved in different needs so that the call can be answered immediately and any type of accidents or injuries are reported immediately to the supervisor. Monitoring patients under the supervision of senior staff helps build confidence and expertise in the job.

Most patients require care such as dental, hearing aid, reading glass, walking stick, wheelchair, etc. and ensure that they are in working condition and remain clean. Carers are always encouraged to take the initiative provided they follow the rules and regulations set by the care home.

There are various rehabilitation activities to participate in to improve and help patients with various health conditions. Carers are expected to assist in these activities under the guidance of managers and trained staff.

On alternate days a care job is expected in and around the care home, especially in the dining area where infection or any contamination must be carefully prevented. Spills or any type of food items should be cleaned immediately to prevent any accidents or unwanted injuries, which can cause further problems.

Taking care of the patient's personal belongings and ensuring that the communal and bedroom areas are clean and have other roles performed by caregivers.
